Due to the heavy presence of Americans in Geneva, it has become increasingly easy to find everything you need to celebrate Thanksgiving the proper way from abroad.
Turkey
Many grocery stores sell whole turkeys now, but you can also get them delivered. Just know that the don’t guarantee a specific weight, so be sure that your oven is big enough to accommodate!
CoopAtHome will deliver your turkey on Nov. 27, 28, or 29, and they note that the average weight is 4.5kg. Farmy has many more weight options and free delivery in Geneva.
Everything Else
For all of the other items you may need, including stuffing, canned pumpkin, and cranberry sauce, you should check out American Food Avenue’s Thanksgiving category. They offer free shipping on orders over CHF 150. (Tip: if you’ve never tried them, the turkey roasting bags are amazing!)
If you’re on the search for sweet potatoes, you should be able to find them at Coop, Migros, or Globus. Last year, perhaps because of the demand at Thanksgiving, many stores were sold out, so I had to go to several locations to find enough. Just be ready to go on an adventure in case your local store is sold out!
